Ok, it is time we talk about some of the links on this page. Capers, well what can we say, unless you have tried a caper berry martini, you don't know capers. They are very "olive" like, but also different. Look in your local stores, but if you cannot fine them try Everything Capers. They say just right on salads, chicken, meats or sauces, but martinis rule with caper berries. Beer, what can one say about beer? For some great things said about beer, try our Beer Quotes page. For most everything else beer and some well written articles try beer.com and if you are into brewing your own like we are, then go to St. Patrick's Brew Supply on the web or in Austin. They have the freshest ingredients, great information and even a few of our own recipes there. BBQ, ok we are getting ready to do "Where do YaGo for BBQ" on this site, but until then we have a few BBQ links we would like to add. For lots of info in one location, try barbecuen.com. Ok, as far as BBQ goes, I consider myself a traditionalist, but also am always looking for ways to make life easier. I found two smokers that seem to do that. I bought one and will let you know how it goes real soon. Try Smokin Tex or Cook Shack for industrial grade electric home smokers. Coming soon will be recipes or at least links to the best BBQ recipes I know about. If you know of some good ones email me at bac@yago.com and I will get them added. If you want to find the right spices to flavor your BBQ with or any other food you might be making check out Penzey's Spices. They have the best and freshest selection I have found. If you need a great pepper mill to grind the four pepper medley or Tellicherry peppercorns then try the Magnum Pepper Mill. It rates as one of the best pepper mills on the market. Any great smoker knows that temperature is one of the key factors in great BBQ. The only way to great smoky flavor is "Slow & Low". I just stumbled across one of the best cheaters in the smoking world!!! The Maverick Wireless Thermometer dual probe allows you to check the temp of two cuts of meat or one cut of meat and the oven temp (smoker) from 100' away and never have to open the smoker door! A must for anyone serious about great BBQ. (Editors Note: Maverick Industries is a great company to do business with. One of the probes on my wireless thermometer broke and they replaced it promptly and at no cost) Ever been to a sports bar or one with lots of TV's and see those people playing that trivia game thing? Well now you can really waste time on the web and play online at National Trivia Network. Good luck! Ever get a phone call on your cell phone or caller ID and not know who was calling? Try the Reverse Lookups for Phone & Addresses and figure out who it was. Also great for checking your own phone bill when you try to figure out who you called at 3:00AM after drinking the "Caper Martinis" without having to call them again and ask who they are. Now we all know nothing goes with eating BBQ and drinking great brews like listening to some good "blues". Check out Blues Review Magazine for the latest in the blues scene. |
