George Highfill Song Lyrics

Oklahoma’s Home to Me
“They did it right down at old Cain’s ballroom.  I still remember Bob and Johnny Lee.
Hey, I’ve been around but you can take me back to Tulsa.
No matter where I hang my hat Oklahoma’s home to me”.

George has definitely been around.  Starting in Stigler Oklahoma.
He is a true country poet with roots in Oklahoma but now in LA.
He has hundreds of songs and hear is a sampling of some of his greatest lyrics.
Billfold Size
“a love filled heart said she was first prize,
but that brought the heartache and the lies,
now I only seem to need her now and then, once again,
she always her with me billfold size”.
Until you let me down
“take me higher than I’ve ever been before and bring tumblin, crumblin to the ground,
so watch the hope in my eyes as it takes up wings and flies,
cause my love lives again each time you come around…
her I am again, you’ve let me down”.

Curtain Hangin Mood
“you took the bronc right out of me,
you know I’m changin can’t you see,
you know you’ve got me in a curtain hanging mood”.

Good News
“I’ve heard of wars being over, the sick getting well, and I’ve heard of the dying pullin through and I’ve read it the headlines, soldier’s comin home and it’s amazing what the doctor’s can do.
Some times you get pnemonia, sometimes you get a raise and that’s somethin these days we all could use, but there’s nothin any better that you’ll ever hear, nothin better than that good news. good news, wake up with a smile in the morning, good news, heaven is waiting on you”.

Lone Star in Texas
“Now there’s a lone star in Texas all alone and blue, cause she’s hear in my heart and in my mind, way up in Oklahoma she can’t see the state I’m in,
there’s a lone star in Texas tonight”.
