GIBSONS
1028 N. Rush Street, 60611 (312-266-8999)
Located in the heart of Chicago's Gold Coast, the fare is "Chop
House", but different from many, they serve USDA Prime Aged Beef!
While the menu is standard for this type of fare, the staff, cliental, portions
and quality set them apart from the rest. Warren
was our server and as with the most of the staff, service is a production!
Portions are large and I mean large, sharing is encouraged. If you think
you can handle it, save room for dessert. There were eight of us at our
table and one slice of Carrot
Cake ($12.50) served us all and had some to take home too! A trip to
Gibson's also necessitates two more things, a visit to the bar and if you have a
wait, you have plenty of famous photographs
to look at. Enjoy and keep your eyes open!

Louie

Definitely a place I want to spend more time. Didn't get a chance to eat
when I was there, but the food looked great and the atmosphere is absolute
fun. They have multiple locations, but the menus are very similar so don't
worry about that and I am sure the fun factor carries over as well. They
also boast a nice martini
selection with multiple olive options. Doubt they use Armstrong,
but hey, you cannot have everything!

Barleycorn
658 W. Belden Ave, 60614 (773-348-8899)
"To say John Barleycorn is only a saloon is to say that the Great Wall of
China is merely a fence." Multiple locations, but the one on Belden
is where I have spent my time. Large selection of draft beer, varied menu
with very tasty selections and great history in the building. Another must
visit on your pub stop!
