This sloppy hodgepodge of a movie is a delight. Campy 80’s cheese for the whole family! Mildly problematic of course, (Elizabeth Shue being forced to sing the blues is both the cringiest and most earnestly fun moment in the film) but a true snapshot of the era. A very surreal cameo from young, buff Vincent D’Onofrio as a Thor-esque mechanic is a special treat. Chris Columbus went on to direct so many 90’s classics, and the Harry Potter adaptations. Come-on! What a charmer.
