Only Lovers Left Alive (2013)

My favorite Jim Jarmusch film. The only vampire film I’ve seen that really gets you into the head-space of living for thousands of years, with all its listless apathy and swooning immortal romance. Tom and Tilda kill it. Gorgeously shot; both burnt-out Detroit and lush Tangiers drip with moody atmosphere.
I have heard a few interesting takes, such as it being a metaphor for Caucasian Western culture’s parasitic relationship to youthful immigrant and indigenous populations (drinking their artistic blood to sustain their empty forms of life). Fun food for thought!
The swirling, moody, post-rock instrumental soundscape is perfect. Apparently, I like my conceptual vamp-romance broody.
